The whole idea of “following” indicates movement.  Maybe it’s movement along the lines of an idea or philosophy.  Maybe it’s moving along with a political or ideological group.  Maybe it’s physically moving toward a person.

In Scripture, we often run across the word “disciple.”   It identifies a group of people in the crowds around Jesus.  This was a group of people who oriented their lives around following Christ.

At Lifepointe, you’ll hear the term “Christ-follower” a lot.  We are wanting to emphasize that faith in Jesus is about movement.  We encourage you to follow in the direction Jesus leads.

Growing Christ-followers are constantly looking for and taking “next steps” on a path of spiritual growth.  They are looking at the road in front of them, and scanning the horizon, constantly altering their course, so that they are tracking with Jesus.

Following Jesus is not a formula or an equation.  Each person grows spiritually at different rates, and in response to different experiences.  Here at Lifepointe, we view spiritual growth as a life-long process.  Growing as a Christ-follower is less like a checklist and more like an adventure.  It’s a quest, really.  A quest for something exciting, fresh, and challenging.  A quest to know Jesus Christ more.
